Air transport community trains in Portugal

The fifth edition of the European Air Transport Training (EATT) started on 19 June at Beja air base. Hosted for the second time by Portugal,  this unique European training event gathers ten nations (Belgium, Germany, Finland, France, Italy, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and United Kingdom), twenty crews and twelve transport aircraft (C160, C130, C130J, C27J and C295).

Initiated at EDA, run by EATC and hosted by the Portuguese Airforce EATT 16 is not only dedicated to air crews. Paratroopers, ground crews, aeromedical teams, Combined Air Terminal Operations (CATO) as well as a common maintenance team are going to train together.

After its initial phase – which encompasses academic sessions (including e-learning modules) and familiarisation flights – crews will fly day and night missions of increasing complexity for the following two weeks. The scenarios will also include simulated Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground threats.
