Contract Agents

The conditions of employment for Contract Agents are described in the Staff Regulations (SR) of the European Defence Agency as adopted by the Council Decision (EU) 2016/1351 of 4 August 2016.

A Contract Agent staff member may be made an offer, pursuant to Article 108 of the SR for a period of at least three months and not more than four years, with a possibility of a single renewal for a maximum of five years.

The probationary period for Contract Agents is six months if s/he is recruited in function group I and nine months if he is recruited in any other function group.

Contract Agent posts are classified in four function groups corresponding to the duties and responsibilities involved::

  • Function group IV: Administrative, advisory, linguistic and equivalent technical tasks, performed under the supervision of temporary staff.
  • Function group III: Executive tasks, drafting, accountancy and other equivalent technical tasks, performed under the supervision of temporary staff.
  • Function group II: Clerical and secretarial tasks, office management and other equivalent tasks, performed under the supervision of temporary staff.
  • Function group I: Manual and administrative support service tasks, performed under the supervision of temporary staff.
