  • 09 April 2012 to 22 April 2012
  • n.a. IRELAND
  • 08:26 - 09:26

Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) are causing significant fatalities/casualties on operations globally and countering them is a high priority for all member states and C-IED will remain a priority into the future in view of the potential strategic effects of IEDs.

The protection of personnel from IEDs has become of paramount importance among operational units in the modern operating environment. While the development of technology solutions is important in this area, the enhancement of fundamental observation skills is also key. The correct use of ground sign awareness training integrated with C-IED TTPs has been proven to very significantly improve the protection levels for soldiers on current operations.

EDA is organizing a Ground Sign Awareness (GSA) course, which will be held in the Republic of Ireland hosted by the Irish Defence Forces. The Course aims at enabling the development of Ground Sign Awareness capability across the European Union to improve Force Protection.

This course is restricted to participating Member States nominees only.
