EDA Future Air Systems Conference

  • 13 September 2012 to 13 September 2012
  • Schönefeld, Berlin - GERMANY
  • 06:00 - 14:00

An EDA conference at the ILA Berlin Air Show will examine Future Air Systems, addressing key questions:

What needs to be done to retain the high calibre industrial base necessary to provide the aeronautic defence capabilities Member States' forces require to meet future threats?

How will Europe retain advanced industrial capabilities with increasingly constrained R&T and procurement budgets?

How can enhanced European collaboration deliver an important part of the solution?

The conference will focus on the need for proactive policies to preserve the industrial capabilities required to provide Member States with advanced aeronautic systems in the future. It will build on the results of the Future Air Systems study commissioned by the Agency which reported earlier this year and which underlined the need for action. Amongst other things it will examine the potential for collaborative work on Unmanned Aerial Systems to show the way to a better future. The role of related aerospace activities undertaken within EDA will be highlighted.

Led by the Chief Executive of the EDA, Ms Claude-France Arnould, the topic will be discussed by high level speakers from EU Member States, the European Institutions and Industry in three sessions:

  • Lessons from recent operational experience and their influence on future requirements
  • Europe’s Defence aeronautics industrial base: what needs to be done to retain Europe’s global competitiveness?
  • Launching a more strategic approach to supplying air delivered capabilities

Registration to the event will be confirmed by email.
