Six Transversal Cells [TCs] support the Project Circles [PCs], enhancing the contribution of these latter to the objectives of the LIFE programme.

Industry Engagement

EDA contributes to identify and, if necessary, implement any useful measure for strengthening the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB) and for improving the effectiveness of military expenditure. To this end, the Industry Engagement Transversal Cell [TC] provides IF CEED Project Circles [PCs] with the required support.

Synergies with EDA’s Sustainable Energy Frameworks

IF CEED activities are conducted in synergy with existing EDA defence energy-related activities such as the Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in the Defence and Security Sector (CF SEDSS III) and the Energy and Environment CapTech (EnE CT).

IdentiFunding

The Identifunding Transversal Cell [TC] aims to transfer know-how and build autonomous capacity in Defence as to relevant funding for Circular Economy at European level. It assists IF CEED by facilitating the screening of a wide range of funding opportunities at European level that may support potential project ideas blooming during the implementation of the Forum.

Synergies with European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (EcesP)

This Transversal Cell [TC] aims at creating synergies between IF CEED and the joint initiative by the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee “European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform”.

Synergies with EDA’s REACH activities

The Transversal Cell [TC] related to the EDA’s REACH activities supports IF CEED Project Circles [PCs] to ensure a high level of protection for human health and the environment by avoiding regrettable substitutions and promoting non-toxic materials cycles. This contribution is also in line with the Commission’s new Chemicals Sustainability Strategy towards a toxic-free environment which is part of the “EU’s zero pollution ambition” key commitment of the European Green Deal.

Strategic Autonomy

This Transversal Cell [TC] establishes a link between the work on introducing Circular Economy in the defence domain and the identification of strategic dependencies that EDTIB is facing. In this way, IF CEED will be made acquainted with the respective Key Strategic activities (KSA) reports and other findings resulting from EDA’s work.
