In January 2023, EDA concluded the first phase of the Hybrid Multifunctional Metamaterials for Defence Applications (HiMMODA) project. Metamaterials are artificial materials that could provide camouflage for the military from infrared, radar and acoustic signals. HiMMODA aims to explore the potential of such metamaterials for defence applications. The project was launched in April 2021 and is envisaged to finish in 2025.
