Check the new Organisational chart in detail.
Organisation
Led by André Denk, EDA Chief Executive, supported by Anders Sjöborg, Deputy Chief Executive, under the authority of Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the Agency’s organisational structure comprises of four directorates:
- Capability, Armament & Planning Directorate (CAP)
supports Member States in collaboratively planning, developing and acquiring defence capabilities that meet their needs as well as EU priorities. The Directorate, together with Member States and with the support of other competent EU institutions and bodies, operates the intergovernmental EU Capability Development Planning System (EU-CDPS) comprising several EU tools such as the Capability Development Plan (CDP), the Coordinated Annual Review on Defence (CARD) or the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO).
- Research, Technology & Innovation Directorate (RTI)
supports EU Member States in translating defence priorities and operational needs into technological solutions and future capabilities. The Directorate promotes collaborative defence research and innovation in areas of common interest and coordinates EDA’s contribution to EU-funded defence research and innovation programmes. The Directorate is home of the Centre for European Defence Innovation Centre (CEDI).
- Procurement, Support, Industry & Interoperability Directorate (PSII)
supports a range of activities critical to collaborative defence capability development in Europe and the strengthening of EU's Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB). Through the Collaborative Defence Procurement Centre (CDPC), the Directorate supports EU Member States by conducting collaborative procurement of off-the-shelf defence equipment and services.
- Corporate Services Directorate (CSD)
provides critical business support to EDA operations by delivering high-quality corporate services under seven dedicated units, namely: Human Resources, Procurement and Grants Management, Finance, Information Technology, Security, Legal and General Services (encompassing Infrastructure, Records and Data Management). CSD processes are geared towards efficient and optimal use of resources, leveraging good practice and technological solutions while ensuring sound financial management, transparency and accountability.
The EDA Policy and Management Office (EPMO) works in direct support of the Agency’s top management (Chief Executive & Deputy Chief Executive). EPMO comprises three specialized yet closely interlinked units:
- EU Defence Policies Unit is responsible for strategic policy development: monitoring EU defence policies as well as legislative instruments, facilitating Member States’ convergence vis-à-vis these initiatives and instruments, and providing direct contributions on request;
- Member States Support and Engagement Unit is the Agency’s prime interface at policy level with Member States and third parties;
- Coordination and Management Unit is responsible for the planning and coordination of EDA’s and EPMO’s activities and workstrands. It also acts as the secretariat of the Steering Board and that of the Agency Management Board.
The Media and Communication Unit (MCU) supports EDA’s positioning and visibility in the rapidly evolving EU defence landscape. Acting as the Agency’s media front office, it shapes key messages, manages press relations and advises senior management on public communication and media engagement. MCU oversees external and internal communication, including social media, digital outreach, audiovisual production, editorial publications, and the organisation of high-level events and conferences.
The internal auditor provides independent, risk-based and objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve the Agency’s operations. It supports EDA's objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach in the evaluation and improvement of risk management, control and governance processes.
