EDA works in an integrated way, with multi-disciplinary teams from all functional areas, to deliver on the mission and objectives of the Agency. Business processes are flexible and result focused. The Agency is staffed by Temporary Agents, Contract Agents and Seconded National Experts. 

EDA has approximately 200 staff members. While the majority of EDA staff have experience from the military or defence sector, EDA also employs professionals with diverse backgrounds coming from the private sector or other EU or international organisations. 

In addition, EDA offers each year few traineeship placements through the EDA traineeship programme

The eligibility and selection criteria for specific positions are set out in the vacancy notice. 

Basic eligibility criteria include citizenship of a participating Member State (pMS), compliance with military service obligations, appropriate character references, fitness for work, and thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the pMSs and satisfactory knowledge of another. 

The vacancy notice for each position also sets out the specific requirements as regards professional experience, knowledge, skills and competences. 

Additionally, candidates will need to have, or be in a position to obtain, a valid Personnel Security Clearance Certificate (national or EU PSC at SECRET UE/EU SECRET level) issued by a competent national authority. For more information, see FAQ
