As part of his series of capital visits launched following his appointment as Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency (EDA) earlier this year, André Denk visited Greece and Cyprus this week.
In both countries, André Denk held high-level meetings with Ministers of Defence and senior officials from the armed forces and ministries of defence.
In Athens, he met with Minister of Defence Nikolaos Dendias, followed by discussions with Major General Ioannis Bouras, National Armaments Director, and Major General Ioannis Korres, Capabilities Director, along with their respective teams.
In Nicosia, Mr Denk met with Minister of Defence Vassilis Palmas, as well as Panayiotis Hadjipavlis, Director for Capabilities and Defence Procurement, and their teams.
The exchanges reaffirmed the strong ties between both Member States and the European Defence Agency, highlighting the excellent cooperation within EDA’s intergovernmental framework and the Agency’s central role in advancing the European Union’s defence readiness objectives.
Looking ahead, and in view of Cyprus’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026, it was announced that Cyprus and EDA will co-organise a major European defence conference in Cyprus in the spring of next year.
