Following the
public release of the European Combat Vessel (ECV)
High-Level Requirements (HLR) in January 2026, the European Defence Agency, together with the seven EU Member States signatories of the ECV
Letter of Intent, is organising a three-day Industry Workshop to gather input from European industry on the future development of the ECV.
The ECV Industry Workshop will take place from 5 to 7 May 2026 in San Fernando (Cádiz), Spain, bringing together EU Member States, maritime communities, and Tier 1 and Tier 2 industry representatives. The event aims to exchange views on key capability areas, industrial cooperation, and the role of the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB) in shaping a next-generation, modular and interoperable combat vessel.
Call for Papers
In this context, EDA invites Tier 1 and Tier 2 EU industry to submit written contributions addressing one or more of the thematic prompts derived from the ECV High-Level Requirements. The submissions will support the refinement of the ECV concept and contribute to the development of its Business Case.
Papers must be no longer than 1,000 words, may include visual material, and must be submitted by 20 March 2026.
Based on an evaluation of the submissions, selected contributors will be invited to present their proposals during the workshop, followed by discussion sessions. This Call for Papers does not constitute an invitation to tender, but an information-gathering exercise to capture innovative industrial perspectives.
