Catherine Ashton, Head of the European Defence Agency, has confirmed Peter Scaruppe as EDA Industry and Market Director. In a letter addressed to Ministers of Defence, the Head of the Agency wrote that Scaruppe was “perfectly suited for the job”. Scaruppe has been EDA Industry and Market Assistant Director since 2009; and has wide experience in Defence cooperation issues, both from a European and a transatlantic perspective.
Claude-France Arnould, EDA’s Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted with Peter Scaruppe’s appointment. At a time of shrinking Defence budgets across Europe, EDA is well-placed to support its Member States to maximize opportunities for cooperation. We will continue to build on the achievements of the Agency to improve the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of the European Defence Equipment Market and further strengthen the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base. Peter Scaruppe’s experience and skills will be crucial in taking forward the EDA’s work in these areas.”
