EDA Workshop on Precision Guided Ammunition

The French-German Research Institute of Saint-Louis (ISL) hosted EDA’s Workshop on Precision Guided Ammunition in the framework of EDA’s Roadmap and Implementation Plan Study, on 17-18 May.

More than 40 participants representing European industries, research institutes and academia had the opportunity to exchange views on Precision Guided Ammunition.

EDA’s study-contractor, BAE Systems, had the chance to collect high value inputs for the study objectives, focused on the current European industrial/ technological capabilities and the on-going development programs in Europe.

The participants had also the opportunity to be informed by ISL about the extensive research capabilities of the institute and its activities in the field of precision and guidance. The ISL Directors, Mr.Christian de Villemagne and Mr. Wolfgang Förster and all the engineers, researchers and personnel of the Institute, ensured the successful organisation and hosting of this important EDA’s event.

On behalf of the local authorities, the Mayor Deputy of Saint-Louis, Mr.Jean-Marie Ζóellé, provided a reception in order to honour the presence of the European Defence Agency and its guests.

EDA’s study on Precision Guided Ammunition is aiming to submit the results by the end of 2011. Having analysed so far the military capability needs of the Member States and collected information related to the global “State of Art”, the next step of the study is a detailed gap analysis which will be presented and discussed with the Member States in July 2011.
