Member States will also validate the methodology of the a study on European Defence Technology and Industrial Dependencies, which is under development.

The study will map the current level of dependency across the European Defence Technology Industrial Base and seek to identify the consequences for key technologies, industrial processes and skills. It will develop criteria to objectively decide what are the critical technologies and industrial capabilities required to deliver defence capabilities, for which dependency on international suppliers should be avoided. It will also suggest which critical areas should be monitored and offer a system which differentiates the different levels of risk. This study recognises the need to achieve the optimum balance between technological independence, strategic cooperation with international partners and reliance on market forces. The study duration is 12 month and the final results shall be delivered by end of March 2012.

This event is restricted to government representatives only.
