EDA-FMV Workshop on Indirect Fire-155mm ammunition

  • 23 May 2012 to 23 May 2012
  • Stockholm SWEDEN
  • 05:00 - 20:00

Background

Under the umbrella of the Ammunition project, EDA has initiated several activities aiming at meeting Member States future requirements effectively with a competitive and innovative industrial base. Harmonizing Member States' requirements such as qualification practices and safety requirements but also Member States' procurement plans are main drivers, together with analyzing and solving or managing dependencies on third countries for specific technologies, products or skills. For the longer term a common view on research and development activities that are crucial for European products is important.

The pilot area for harmonizing the requirements of existing types of ammunition is indirect fire-155 mm artillery ammunition. A work shop on this subject is planned to take place on 23-24th May 2012 in Stockholm co-organized by EDA and the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV). The workshop will build on results of the first workshop that took place last year in Bourges and on the grounds of the conclusions so far from EDA’s work strand on Ammunition.

Objectives

The purpose of the work shop is to create harmonized requirements for specific ammunition types within the 155 mm ammunition family and to investigate possibilities of harmonization of the national procurement plans.

Participation

The workshop is open to governmental experts only.
