Maritime Security Conference 2017

The European Defence Agency (EDA) is organising a Maritime Security Conference on the 16th of November 2017. The conference will be conducted under the auspices of the Estonian Presidency of the European Council at the Hellenic Navy NMIOTC in Crete.

The title of the conference is “The importance of an innovative approach for Maritime Security” and this broad topic will be addressed by a series of panel discussions. The panels will focus on the broad strategic policy levers for maritime security, the importance of an innovative approach for technology, in particular unmanned systems, and the final panel will address the pertinent challenges of maritime domain awareness.

Speakers include Vice Admiral Pavlopoulos, CINC Hellenic Fleet, Rini Goos, Deputy Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency, Nils Størkersen, Director of Research, FFI, Rear Admiral Gilles Boidevezi, Deputy Commander EUNAVFOR MED Operation Sophia and Christos Malikkides, Permanent Secretary of the CY Ministry of Defence. 16 November 2017 (an icebreaker reception is organised on the evening of 15 November) at the Hellenic Navy NMIOTC in Crete.
