EDA provides a military view to the SESAR definition and research phases.
EDA has actively participated in the development of all ATM Master Plan editions and coordinates the different R&D activities related to military ATM within EU (e.g. SESAR, European Defence Fund, etc). In addition, it acts as a catalyzer for potential research (and deployment) projects.
In order to identify from the outset, the military implications of emerging technologies, EDA also carries out dedicated studies. This has been the case for military implications of ATM data service provision and High Airspace Operations.
An important activity is also Communication, Navigation and Surveillance activities where EDA supports the identification of military needs stemming from civil aviation needs and the current geopolitical environment. In coordination with Eurocontrol and NATO, EDA has developed two military CNS strategies (“pragmatic” and “comprehensive” approaches), is involved into CNS Programme Manager activies and supports States with the definition of their CNS Minimum Operational Networks.
